Superintendent Finalist
North Butler, Clarksville School Boards Name Finalists for Shared Superintendent Position
The North Butler Community School District and Clarksville Community School District School Boards have named three finalists in their search for the districts’ next shared superintendent. The finalists are Bryan Boysen, John Kerr, and Anthony Ryan.
Boysen most recently served as superintendent and elementary principal in the Kenyon-Wanamingo School District in Wanamingo, Minnesota. In this role, he oversaw operations, supervised all staff, and successfully led an operational referendum approval in 2021. Boysen holds a master’s degree from Hamline University and anticipates a doctoral degree in education from Winona State University in August of 2024. Prior to his most recent position, Boysen served as superintendent and elementary principal of Lyle Public School in Minnesota.
As director of curriculum in the Mediapolis CSD, Kerr has scheduled and overseen all district and state requirements for assessment, in addition to providing district-wide professional development for all staff. Additionally, Kerr coordinates School Improvement Advisory Committee meetings for the district. He holds an education specialist degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a master’s degree in leadership with an evaluator certificate from Viterbo University. Before his current role, Kerr served as an AEA math consultant at the Great Prairie Area Education Agency.
Currently serving as superintendent and director of special education in the East Marshall CSD, Ryan has successfully reversed the multi-year downward trend of the district’s unspent authorized carryover budget into a stabilized upward trend. Additionally, he has served on the School Administrators of Iowa’s annual conference professional development planning committee. Ryan holds an education specialist degree from Drake University and a PK-12 superintendent certification. He previously served as superintendent of the Centerville CSD.
Board members have been working with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. As a next step, the boards and stakeholder interview teams will conduct final interviews with each of the three finalists on Monday, February 12. The boards will then discuss the candidates and reach a final decision.
The next superintendent will begin leading the North Butler CSD and Clarksville CSD effective July 1, 2024.
